Throttle pedal does nothing once warmed up.
Hey guys, so I've finally had my first dehabilitating issue with my car after many years of owner ship. I was driving on a 5 hour trip and a two hours into it the throttle starts cutting out. I stop to check it, turn the car off and then back on, it works, for 1 minute. Now at this point there's nothing I can do to make the car go except for pushing the accelerator pedal all the way where the car revs to maybe 3.5k Max. Got it home on "limp mode". The next day I turn the car on and it's working just fine, up until the car has warmed up, and it just cuts out, same as before, cruise control doesn't work either. Tried it again just idling in the driveway, same thing. Playing around with the throttle I'm hearing some clicking noises from the throttle control motor. Could this be my issue? I already have a replacement used throttle body with all the sensors and motors from aliga. The car is a 1998 SC300. Thanks for the help guys.

Are you getting any CEL codes? My first guess would be the ECU capacitors need servicing. It doesn't seem likely to be anything mechanical if it resets itself as soon as the car is turned off.

That's a good point, I didn't think of that. What about the accelerator pedal position sensor, is that a common thing to go out on these cars? I just ask as I'm going through my spare throttle body and checking to see what's on it that's related to throttle.

sounds like the ecu, when you first turn the key to on, does the CEL light up and then go away. if it doesn't that is a sign of a bad ecu. at first the symptoms only show up when the ecu warms up, which goes with what you are saying, so its worth looking into that first. since it works when cold, I would think the sensors are just fine.
