Difficulty starting, engine stalling MAF?
Hey all,
I'm a new SC400 owner. Always LOVED the cars, and now I finally got one!!!. However, when I first got it the car was dying at stoplights, it was worse with the A/C on. It also won't stay running unless you put your foot into the gas and feather it down to an idle. I ran codes on it and it said it was the MAF sensor. I took it out and sprayed it off with brake clean and now it doesn't die, but it still won't stay running after starting it unless I feather it with the gas pedal. It immediately sticks at 500 rpms or so even on a cold start. I'm wondering if it could also be a cold start injector, computer or idle position sensor. Thanks for any help. Ya'll have some beautiful cars on this site. I've been an enthusiast of a number of cars and am always thrilled to see such a well organized site like this. Take care!!

sweetsc400,
Are you still getting a code? Cold Start injector is only used for "cold starts". If your car starts fine but dies immediately I would not think it's the injector. More likely it's idle valve controller or even something as simple as a blocked vacuum passage somewhere. Clean your throttle body, butterfly valve etc and check for codes. No codes = something mechanical such as a blocked passage.
