For the obd2 guys, you can get the casper sim for around $55 shipped.

Jon, I think you mentioned you got the sim from MVP? If so, what did they charge?

MVP is $95 + shipping, it appears to be the same piece as the Casper, didn't realize the price difference until after I ordered it, oh well .

Not to go back on a really old post in here, but VTEC and all of the variable timing devices are made for economy. They take a high performance engine, and while down low run a much more economical (And less power generating) setup. When you get about their pre-determined RPM that means you're "sport driving" then it switches over to the more aggressive setup/more valves/whichever mode they use, and gives you more performance.
Back on topic, I can't wait to see your car move!!! It will be a beast!

Steven, you're wrong re: VVT-i, go back and read the responses given by Scott and myself. For what i'm looking to do it's perfect, also consider that Alex's Quicksilver Supra (down your way, the car built by Lujan) ran 9.9 at a buck thirty seven with VVT-i, using Toyomoto's basic log-style manifold, still with alot of stock parts in the car (incl head/cams)....full weight with video system and 'glass tub, street car. Most ppl who knock the variable valve timing either don't know enough about it to integrate it into their management strategy or simply haven't spent enough road time evaluating a VVT-i 2JZ. Mine when stock would light the tyres up from a stop, even with eight grand in multimedia equipment weighing it down, my SC400 doesn't do that. Technology is a wonderful thing, check into it Mr. Reed....you and I both came up as musclecar guys but you won't seem to let go...I remember you wanted to put a SBC stroker in yours at one time . Oh, and the '99 JDM Supra? VVT-i son! Waddya think these guys are taking steps backward?
awj...competition is stiff as hell, lots of classic big-inch iron roaming around here too, it's murderous
Derrick...Lil Jon? Man you're gonna get taken for a ride alright...one you'll never come back from Time for white boy to whoop some @ss ...as for how long, he's trying to get it done before he leaves for SEMA, that leaves 2 wks, otherwise it's an extra 2 wks brother.
Richie...your enthusiasm is contagious, glad you like it so far man.
UPDATE - went by the shop tonight, head is back on, cams, valve cover, and intake are all buttoned-up, hoping to have the oil lines, header, and turbo done tomorrow, moving at a good pace now, already have half a day booked on a DynoJet. Guys my birthday is in two weeks (Nov 6), all you locals know where I live...it's the BIG THREE-OH and i'm depressed....b-day donations in the form of those little 5gal cans of VP 108 Octane from S-K Speed left @ my doorstep will make me feel much better ....
