Jon,

Just wanna say keep up the great work! We all look forward when your project is completed! Btw, you rock since your SC has an automatic! I *THINK* I would have had some more fun with the car or even kept it if I had an auto rather than a manual.

DGOT.....that is funny as hell, with everybody running a monster turbo now..this thing is really very midsize, by the time these mkiv guys with their T88's start building steam i'll be out.

Steven, thanks man....other than gadgetSC's dawg there's no one out here doing an NA-T coupe, the locals dig it, gonna beat up some musclecars with a DVD and the A/C on.

verylost...it's on.

Jon,

I vaguely remember hearing that VVT-i motor is 10.5:1 not 10:1. If so, the CR I worked out for you was wrong. Numbers are a little better now. How 'bout 8.38:1? Yeah... that's more like it.

See?... You should've checked my numbers!

Here's an update. The intercooler is mounted and the IC piping should be done today. The car has a returnless fuel system like the IS300's, so we still have to install a Paxton regulator, run a -6 braided return line to the tank, run a return fitting through the access door to the tank, and do away with the oe in-tank regulator and pump and install the Walbro in order to convert the system over for forced induction use, yet another obstacle that must be overcome when using the VVT-i motor. After that we need to weld another O2 bung onto the downpipe, V-band it to the turbo, and fab a 3" midpipe, then all that is left is to wire the electronics. I'll be headed to Montauk tonight for a couple days of well-earned R&R, and everyone @ JBE will be headed to Vegas for SEMA, so work will continue on my coupe in another week, and should be finished a week after that, god willing.

- Jon

Figure I would come on over to your thread and share the love Jon

Great progress on the car. I'm expecting lots of video clips as well as pics of the finished product.

Jon,

Couple of suggestions. If you're going to run a 6AN line, go ahead and run an 8AN line. You could use that as a feed line in the future for dual pumps without having to re-plumb the fuel system. The OEM fuel line could be used as the return. Also, make sure to use a *steel* 90 degree bulkhead fitting and have it *welded* to the plate. Unlike the Supra, our tank access plate sits below the fuel level when the tank is full. If it isn't welded, it will leak; or worst, it will pass gas fumes into the passenger compartment. Trust me on this; I know from *experience*.

Access to the tank from under the car is possible through the rubber grommet seals for the OEM lines. I used the one on the driver side. It's difficult to feed the line from the bottom. Just be patient.

FYI, try to mount the fpr in a place that is free from heat soak. Believe it or not, the spring in the fpr is susceptable to heat soak and *will* lose fuel pressure when hot. Again, this is from experience.

Good luck!

Thx Chris, i'll make a nice little exit ramp drift video just for you .

Scott, makes sense, i'll probably go with the -8, we will definitely be doing the bulkhead correctly. As for avoiding a heat soak condition with the regulator, I don't personally feel that a few inches closer to or futher from the engine will significantly change the amount of heat that's radiated into the FPR, as long as you're on the driver side of the block (for reasons you already know...the header and turbo) which everyone is anyway since the rail is right there. I'd like to know if you feel that mounting the regulator over in the corner near the master cyl would make any difference Scott, since I don't think it will and plan on mounting it by the forward corner of the plenum (where it would receive some flow from the fan anyway).
