SC300 VVT-i Turbo SP63

Much progress was made yesterday...rail was removed again and tapped for the return line, Walbro installed, factory regulator bypassed, bulkhead through the tank access door was done, rail re-installed and intake/t-body buttoned-up, and the last IC pipe (the one into the t-body) is almost done being fabbed. O2 sensors are just about done being wired also (went from four O2's to one and a simulator ).
William, not looking for big numbers, just decent power for the daily commute.

The back end of the exhaust may be kinked up and not large enough diameter, but some follow the theory that as exhaust cools, it compresses, so the stuff near the end of the pipe takes up less space and offer less restrictive properties the further it goes. You've got a 3 - 3.5" mid and down pipe flowing into two 2 1/8" pipes. If you have a 3" midpipe, that equals the same cross section as the back parts of the stock system. If you have a 3.5" midpipe, its a little bigger in area, but not much. Following the theory, there shouldn't be gobs of extra hp lurking in the back section. I think you've addressed the main issue of the downpipe and midpipe, which are the most important, IMHO. At Clint's level, anything less than a sewer pipe is going to be a significant imdedance to making power, but we're not talking about a turbo the size of a ferris wheel here either. I made well over 400 at the wheels with the "restrictive" back section on pump gas. Of course, I'm not saying that the back end makes *no* difference, but I think at this point, you've covered the most important items and the guesstimated 5-10% increase in power at the top end will only be a bonus later on.

Gazi, two pre-cat, two post-cat, just ahead of and behind the catalysts. You a daddy yet?
Scott, we'll see, I don't think it'll be a problem to break 400 rwhp with the oe rear section, but approaching 450+ it will definitely be bottlenecked. Your theory about the rear section flowing the same as the midpipe has merit, but my theory says small and crimped = no bueno no matter what, ya know? As you're aware there is no need for a certain level of backpressure to maintain low end torque in a turbo car, the more open it flows the better it goes, that's why we welded in a flange where the midpipe meets the rear section, so I can uncork this ****** .
