Question just bought sc300. few questions

just picked up a 92 sc300 and the guy stripped the interior. looks like i have mostly everything but im working on it. few questions since im new to lexus in general.
if you guys could offer any insight to any of my issues, i'd greatly appreciate it.

• gauge cluster doesnt seem to work at all... warning lights (ect, brake, trans indicator etc..) seem to work but no movement from the gauges nor do they light up
• i have one key, does not open trunk. would a "master" key open trunk + have remote for keyless entry?
• left door handle cable seems siezed. door door panel off and removed cable from its holder so i could open the door by manually pulling the cable.
• ive searched and searched but is there any threads with interior disassembly? im having trouble figuring out where some of the ducts and dash pieces go.

im sure i will have more questions as i progress with the car

  • There are multiple posts on here regarding the cluster and what to do about it. Search cluster, many threads basically saying the same thing, send the cluster to Tanin.
  • Again, many key threads, search for key or master key and you will see your best option is to order a key from your local Lexus dealer. About $100 give or take.
  • If your handle is good, you should be able to find a cable on ebay or maybe a local salvage yard. It's tough to work with the door latch end, be careful with the plastic clips.
  • I think there is a dash removal thread in the mega thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...tart-here.html

well im wondering since the whole console/radio is still removed is the cluster somehow tied in to one of those wire harness grounds or the radio/hvac itself like some cars

I don't think so, in my race car I removed all of the center console and associated wiring but reused the cluster and it works fine. I didn't make any splices. But, I don't have it here so I can't confirm but there may be a junction box that I had to leave in place and tie wrapped it to the plastic hvac housing. If something is unplugged there it might need to be plugged in, but can't swear anything comes from that block to the cluster.

i appreciate the actual response. i figured it out this morning.it was the wire harness ground that runs down the left side of the center console. i resecured it and the gauges all came on. the lights are half dead but im not worried about that at the moment.

Was it IH or II? Just curious in case I run up on a similar issue.
