Default SC400 Power Antenna Repair

Has anybody out there been inside of the power antenna? I have had to go into mine, as it was full of dirt. The drive motor checks out fine, and the antenna is intact as well. the nylon drive appears to just fine as well. There is a helical iron piece that that causes the magnetic pickup to signal the control unit.

This helical piece of iron is rusted out on the last 1/4" and I was wondering if I install this, will I have timing issues, and is there a method to handshake this unit with the control unit.

Any help would be appreciated.
