no, that short little shifter is more like IMO

The stock shifter is nice, but the shortness of the 6 speed sets it apart and makes it look quite different. I wouldln't know about the throw -- I've never driven one.

I hope someone can verify my question.

About the poll: how many people with the 2JZ-GTE use their cars as daily drivers?

Not sure that that is even a 6spd, can't see the reverse lock-out , unless its under the boot.

Eitherway, the shifter does sit low, but the shift if nice and short If you want to possibly have it higher, you may want to use a 97-98 6spd shifter assembly. Earlier models were a bit shorter.

As for daily driving, pretty subjective questions I drive my on only sunny days, so daily yes

Look at the second picture. It's clearly drawn that it is a 6 speed. Can you please post a pic of you shifter

Well, that first pic has the 5spd TRD shift ****, which as far as I know, doesn't fit on the shifter assebly of the 6spd. The second pic is in fact the 6spd, and it does have the reverse lock-out under the shifter boot.

Here are two pics of mine.

sorry for the crappy shift ****

Do you think the 6 speed is comfortable to use? Also, what is the reverse lock-out that you are refering to?

Thanks

I like the feel of my 6spd, better than when I had the w58 in the car. It doesn't feel as mushy, but some people would prefer that. I felt like I was going to break that shifter off on the 5spd when I did some hard driving. The 6spd on the other hand is extremely managable, has a much stronger feel to it as well. Plus, I enjoy the gearing of the car with the getrag and the 6spd tt diff.

The reverse lock-out is used to prevent you from shifting into reverse instead of 6th gear. You need to pull up on the part under the shifter **** in order to get it into reverse.

Thanks for the clarification. Do you think that the reverse-lockout is a pain? Like everytime having to feel for the thing when you want to go in reverse, or can you just pull the shift know up?

I actually like the lockout, its not a pain at all. Just pull up the release with your index, middle finger and thumb and move it into reverse. Its a nice saftey precaution to have.

My 6 spd with a 97-98 shifter. I like the extra 3/4 inch of length.

Alot of cars come like this from the factory, I some times do it by accedent when jumping in my SC after driving my girlfriend's VW all the time. Its not a pain, it actually becomes a habbit after a few times.

Sounds cool. I just feel it will be a pain for a while because my car doesn't have a garage, and I have to park it on the street every day
