Stupid AC EPR valve 92 SC400
I am new to the Lexus scene and have just been introduced to a leaking AC EPR (evaporator pressure regulator). Does anyone know of a source for replacement parts besides the dealer? I have been searching and have come up with nothing except a risky tip to gut the valve and put in a block off plate.
Anyone retro fitted parts from another system?
Any help would be appreciated. I do NOT want to go through a Tennessee summer with no AC!
The car is a 1992 SC400
Thank You,
Dave

Hello Dave,
You mean the Thermal Expansion Valve (TX-V)? That would be the valve that connects onto the evaporator core behind the dash. You can get those from the densoproducts website. The part number is #DEN475-0503. It's the same as the OEM Lexus part for all 1992-2000 SC's since Denso is the OEM supplier for it. It's about $45 from them vs the dealer price for the same item. Denso also will sell you the OEM A/C condenser, OEM A/C drier and remanufactured compressor.

I am looking for the valve on the exit side of the evaporator. It is located in the engine bay adjacent to the wheel well and at the bottom of the ABS pump bracket. I almost wish I needed an expansion valve, I can get that anywhere, but the EPR, not so much. This valve has a rolling diaphragm (like the bag on an air shock) in it that holds the refrigerant in and allows the valve piston to move. My diaphragm is toast and thus leaking refrigerant to the atmosphere. So far I have only found - get one used, go to the dealer and they want $700+ for the part.
