more insights into o2 sensors and simulators.

I called summitracing and asked them.
They said to never use o2 simulators on o2 sensors on the headders since those are the ones that monitor the A/F ratio. Removing the o2 sensor on the manifold makes your car run richest of the settings read from MAF/temp/rpm/throttle/speed
The o2 sensors after the cat you can use o2 simulators since they only monitor the performance of the cats(makes sure cats are ok) and may or may not trigger check engine light on OBDI vehicles depending on which vehicle but did not have specific info on our vehicle.
The after cat o2 sensors deliver signal to your ECU in cycles every few seconds thus eliminating the check engine light(on OBDII).

Where do main O2 sensors locate? Could anyone show me where and how to get them?

Post Main O2 sensors?

Thanks Aliga! ... i know these are car 101 questions, but seriously, i don't know
Where is the manifolds? Do you have to open it to get the main O2 sensors? (any special tools?) How do the main O2 sensors look like? How should they be handled? Any cautions?

I would be glad to hear anything that you like to share. I like to be able to get and see the main O2 sensors.

Thank much!

As VSsc400 says... do not hollow out the cats. Maybe the best reasons being that you will not gain power and will loose low speed torque and it will sound bad. BTW, this is NOT because the engine wants backpressure. It is because you create a low speed plenum in the exhaust that actually reduces flow and hence the loss.

It will also SMELL bad. A good alternative is to use a high flow cat that matches the diameter of whatever high performance cat-back you decided to go with if any. Random Technology is a very reputable brand in this department.

hate to bring up an old thread, but im using 2 bosch universal o2 sensors in my xerd header.(93 sc300) the sensor after the cat is a 4 wire where as the first 2 on the stock manifold are 1 wire. my exhaust guy installed a third universal to replace my 4 wire (he didnt know it was 4, not 1)
so its not installed and no check engine lights have come on yet, but does anyone think the uni. sensor will work in place of the 4 wire, or should i just leave it out ?

no cats btw, just xerd to resinator to duel magnaflow 14829
sounds EXACTLY like this clip on intellexual.net
http://www.intellexual.net/movies/SC300-Magnaflow.mp3

im gonna post up lots pf pics in 1 big thread soon.
TIA
