Default Adjustable cam gears, hks?

wanting to get adjustable cam gears and really would like to get the HKS ones for the 2jzg(t)e even though I have a Ge (will turbo) since I have to do the maintenance (timing, oil, water pump) I’m not sure if I should get the HKS gears.... a lot of people have been saying the HKS gears eat up the belt pretty fast....
Im planning on getting the HKS timing belt as well, basically: aisin water pump, oil pump, hks adjustable cam gears, Hks timing belt, valve cover gaskets

input would be appreciated if the hks cam gears really do have this problem?

You should get the Gates racing timing belt instead of hks. I think they're the same belt, just rebranded by hks and the Gates is a lot cheaper.

are the adjustable cam gears for display or to make power ? how much power are you trying to get into and are you trying to move the power band to the right ?

IF your end product is less than 1000rwhp , I would suggest spend that money into some other go fast goodies otherwise your cam gears would more likely be for display or look good goodies.

I have seen a lot of people install cam gears but are never degreed thus they become display only !

The car WILL be built but instead of having to do it later down the road I want to do it now when I have to do the timing belt maintenance anyways... so yes for the time being it is purely aesthetic

If you intend to run a kevlar timing belt, you will need to get a billet timing belt tensioner bracket to go with it. Kevlar belts break the factory cast brackets

1st gen HKS cam gears did damage belts. It was the teeth that would wear and cut up the rubber belts.
2nd gen HKS cam gears have been redesigned and don't have this problem. Supposedly the teeth are a different material now.

*If you do intend to get HKS cam gears, to ensure they are the 2nd gens, buy them from an HKS authorized dealer.
Knockoff HKS cam gears don't have the redesigned teeth (and can slip)
