Default What rear end for 1/4 mile track.

Hello all,
I ran into this problem where, I broke two different rear ends at the track. One.was sc300 other was gs430. Both were welded. But the welds did not brake. Who is launching hard on their diffs and what is your set up?
The only conclusion I can come up with is welded diiff engages too hard. I did not pre load the drive train. There is no slip. I was on drag radials.

Nice work my friend! What kind of power are you making, and on what transmission?

I was thinking gs430 diff with clutch type lsd to soften the engagement. I need the 3.26 ratio.

I don't know if that will give you the effect that you desire... I've got a KAAZ unit in my SC3 diff and that has seemed to soften the engagement some verses cars with welded diffs that I've experienced. The problem is if you're toasting a ring gear like that you've got bigger fish to fry lol. Otherwise, you may be stuck looking into a TT diff swap or something along the lines of a Ford 8.8.

I'd try a true LSD with clutches or the torsen type. Welded is definitely more strain.

Or like stated about ford 9 or 8.8 rear ends
