Default Right Rear View Mirror issue

Hi guys,

Like a DOOFUS I took out the right side mirror when backing out of the garage the other day. DOOHH!!

At the present time, the mirror is cracked and the housing is moving freely and not staying in place. It is wobbling during every bump. I took it to my favorite shop who stated that they would have to spend HOURS drilling out a bolt to get to it. This does not sound right to me. I think it is out of their comfort zone so they are passing on the work.

Id like to figure out what kind of spring or detent is broken inside and replace it. And i would like to replace the mirror as well. Does anyone have a diagram of this component and tips on how to accomplish this.

Thank you in advance for your sage advice,
W

this should help with the mirror spring/detent that fail
. You can remove the whole mirror from the car by removing the interior door panel and removing the nuts holding mirror on.
