Mufflers hanging too low?
I've been very satisfied with my SC4 so far. However, there are a couple of things that I never expected would happen on this car.
One of these little annoying problems is the rear mufflers. Even with the stock suspension, I think they still sit way too looooow. I remember once I was backing out of a steep driveway and as I entered the street pavement, I heard this loud scratch behind me. It sounds almost as if it's coming out from underneath the car. The first words that came to my mind were the usual F and swear words. As I calmed myself down, I got out of the car and tried to look for damages. Fortunately for me, nothing was damaged because the only part that scraped the ground was either the gas tank or the rear mufflers.
Just earlier today, when I was backing out of my parking space. I noticed there was a curb behind me. I said to myself, "fine, it's no big deal", I'll just keep backing up until the curb stops my rear tires. Boy was I wrong, as I was backing up, I heard this loud scratch again. This time the S word came across my mind first as I quickly jumped out of the car to see what really went wrong. It turned out that it's the muffler again.
Even though I've been fortunate not to have damaged the rear bumper, exhaust tips or the gas tank, I am still somehow bothered by the fact that my mufflers are taking all the beatings.
Does anyone else have this problem?
PS: SC3.0. No, I am not joking this time. It really happened.

Thanks for the info.
What's the gas tank look alike metal panel next to my mufflers? It's positioned right in the rear center underneath the car so I thought that's the gas tank.

Just a heads up, the gas tank is behind the rear seat, so you will not be able to damage it by backing up.

Thanks.
Let me try to upload a pix of my rear end.
Please tell me if my mufflers are hanging too low.

Just wanted to make sure... :P
As long as my mufflers aren't hanging too low, I guess I'll just be more careful when I get out of driveways or parking spaces next time.
Thanks.

Yep, looks normal to me. I scraped a few times myself going into steep driveways. Just have to be extra careful...go slow and drive in at an angle, and you should be ok.
BTW, pull that panel in the back of your trunk if you want to see where the gas tank is. Kinda explains why the trunk is so small,

Here's an interesting story. . .don't know that it's actually true or not, but here we go. My local stereo guy told me that some dude in Cali was drilling holes to run wires from the cabin to the trunk on an SC. Apparantly the guy understandably thought that this would be ok since no one informed him of the gas tank whereabouts. Unfortunately the sparks ignited the gas and he go boom boom. . .RIP
