Default Headlight Wiring Question

I've rubbed through two wires of my driver side fender harness on my 93 sc300. Since then I've gone through and repaired the wires. My headlight switch no longer controls the headlights as well as the high beams don't work. All other lights work, blinkers, tails, front runners, brakes. I was able to get my headlights to work by jumping the relay under the hood and was thinking if it was possible to temporarily wire in a separate switch to control them rather than the relay. I've read about replacing the integration relay and could do so with my parts car still having its installed. I hear it's a real pain to get in/out and don't have a lot of time to tinker with car stuff at the moment. Something just to get by for a bit until I have time. I have very little knowledge about electrical systems in cars/relays/circuitry etc. Is just replacing the integration relay easier than wiring up a separate switch? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
