Default Getrag V160/V161 Demand

Hello Everyone, Is there still a demand for the Getrag 6 speed transmission? What type of prices are these transmissions selling for now?

Let's keep this thread about "is there still the demand for V160 / V161" .

Once this thread becomes an advertisement thread , it will be closed or deleted .

back on topic :

No question , the V160 / V161 is a much desired transmission together with the 6 speed differential . But is it still worth it considering that there are alternatives using brand new parts to support high hp and torque ? NO .. .not anymore . After a complete 6 speed swap together with all the other parts like differential , clutch and so on to support 1000rwhp / torque , you are already at more than $15k and still using second hand parts for which you have no idea how they have been used in the past. The repair of V160/v161 is very expensive not considering that a lot of the parts are not available anymore.

You will spend less than that using brand new parts like new transmission , new aftermarket lsd , clutch and so on with . Exactly the reason why their demand had gone down . It is because of their ridiculous prices now. Don't get me wrong. I am not putting them down cause I still have 4 cars with the V160 and a brand new V160 sitting around as spare. They are one of the best tried transmissions out there.

There will always be a demand on these V160 / V161 . but are people willing to pay for them ... NOT ANYMORE as they used to be and just because there are debatably equally good BUT BRAND NEW alternatives which am sure a lot of people already knew and have been discussed in other threads or other forum like SF.

One example being the CD009 which can be had and adapted brand new to a 2JZ platform for about $5k with twin disk clutch.

Another example being the Tremec T56...

lol...@gerrb what are your thoughts on the below? All of this is true however, if you ask me it's about preference. Some please go by the KISS principal and want to stay stock. Others are more adventurous.. Is it ok if I post pictures of the items in question?

I refrained from talking about the CD009 and Tremec Magnum on my previous post and won't comment on them even if I wanted to because this tread is about " Getrag V160 / V161 Demand " and not about the other available transmissions or which one is better .

If you post a picture of what you have (which most people already have seen what it looks like ) then you are advertising what you are selling since you already said above , which was edited already by a mod , that you have one for sale and we will be forced to close / delete this thread , so don't post pictures .

Just keep the discussion on said topic , nothing else please or gonna close this thread.
