Thanks for the info. 1996 SC400 is 2nd generation. Here is the summary of the topic on the SC400:
1990-1995 = 340E
1996-1997 = 341E
98+ = 350E
Now we are all happy.

Now I'm confused...Different websites are stating different SC300 transmission numbers....

From the Powerhouse Racing website:
"The GTE conversion can be performed to the 5 speed manual or A340 automatic
transmission equipped SC300..... However, automatic transmission owners will have to
upgrade to the Supra Twin Turbo A340E transmission at the time of the swap due to
internal differences between the two models."

From the Lextreme website:
SC300 3.0L 1992-98 A340E automatic transmission

From the Intellexual website:
"The SC300 comes with .... a Toyota A343E speed automatic transmission with
overdrive..."

What is the real answer????

My Toyota FSM also says A340E for the Twin Turbo tranny & A340E for the NA tranny. Just internal differences.

the tt supra and na supra/sc300 auto trannies are significantly differetn but also similar. The gte trans is all electronically controlled with 5 solenoids. The sc400 auto is almost the same as the tt supras but it has a different tailshaft(similar to a jdsm auto tt supra trans) and it also has a line that controls line pressure(i htink) like the sc300 trans.... I have the 4 trannies(sc3, sc4, tt supra, jdm tt supra) sitting in a row at the shop(built)
