Default Turbo SC3 Vs. SC4

What do u think? The first generation SC. Single T76 1n a SC3 and T76 in SC4. head to head comparison. Here are the questions.
1. Which one will make more HP at a given boost level.
2. Which one is easier?
3. Which is cheaper?
4. Which one will have lower 1/4 ET?
5. Which will make more HP in:
A: stock,
B: slightly mod
C: highly mod?

Huge question!

I would imagine the 1UZ-FE would be able to crank out more HP and Torque per PSI. More displacement. The car would have more usable power down low.

2JZ-GE is definitely easier

2JZ-GE is definitely cheaper

Too many parameters there to tell really. The SC300 manual would be better period but since the SC400(earlier) and SC300 share the same tranny according to someone elses post I would imagine similar results from the same amount of power.

Stock: SC400
Slightly modded: SC400
Highly modded: The 2JZ-GE seems to handle more power than the 1UZ-FE. Look at what MO at SRT has done turboing it. I think the inline six is the way to go from the standpoint of how much R&D has already been invested in it.

Just my 2 cents

IMO, the whole 300 route has been done. I am the type that likes to be the first to have/do something. From the looks of your other Lexus projects I believe that you are one of the few serious people that can actually make this happen. I agree with Hermosa that the 400 would make more power downlow and get that T76 spooling a lot faster, but about the most hp possible, I don't think many people have actually explored the upper end of the 1UZ like they have the I6. Come on, when the Supra debuted, did people really believe right off the bat that the stock bottom ends could hold over 1,000 hp? The 1UZ is bullet proof and I think it is readily capable of handling easily over 500 ponies. True that the 1UZ is going to be more expensive but if you have the time and you have the money, make something happen that has never been done before and open a new door for all of us V8 guys that can only wish to be in the 12s.

I don`t mean to be cynical, and I love the 2jz, but over 1,000 on the stock bottom end is not possible! I believe the record is 930 horsepower, and that was at the dyno only. To be a reliable engine on the stock bottom, power would have to be lower. But nonetheless 900 on a stock bottom is still incredible.

Well I stand corrected, but stock bottom end doesn't really mean anything when there are 2jz's around with like 1,300 hp, so I can imagine the 1UZ can still make double the hp than most people would ever need. That SC400 dragster, isn't that a 1UZ block still way over 1,000 horses?

The HKS Drag Supra with the "Lexus V8" has about 1500hp. However, it has had a LOT of mods done to it... I think they mix and match blocks and heads from the various engines.. 4.0, 4.3, 4.7.

However, there are a few boats around pumping 40+ psi and making well over 1000 with just built bottom ends...

I thought the SC400 drag car used a 2uz. I thought I read that somewhere like an Import Drag Racer mag or something similiar.

I believe the 1UZ will

2. Which one is easier?
2JZ

3. Which is cheaper?
Probably the 2JZ, just because its so common with aftermnarket parts already tested and designed.

4. Which one will have lower 1/4 ET?
I'm guessing here, but I personally feel the 1UZ has a higher potential especially down low, as long as you can stuff everything under the hood!

5. Which will make more HP in:
A: stock,
B: slightly mod
C: highly mod?
My guess:

A. 1UZ
B. 2JZ
C.1UZ

This is all just my guess. Feel free to elaborate/comment anyone.

Just curious why you would guess 2jz for slightly modified? Not that I disagree, just curious.

1. IMO, as others have said, the 1UZ that would make more HP at a given boost level compared to a 2JZ... however the 1UZFE seems to be more of an 'economical' V8 motor (FE = economical engines in Toyota's line up), compared to the 2JZG(T)E (GE = performance engines in Toyota's line up).
2. Definitely the 2JZ. Firstly though, are you talking about removing the 2JZGE and replacing it with a 2JZGTE?
3. Definitely 2JZ, less pipework needing to be fabricated I'm guessing, plus the 2JZ route is tried and tested.
4. -
5. It depends what you classify as slight modifications and high modifications... but from what I can see, a) 1UZ b) 2JZ c) ???
