2jzgte 97 sc400 lexusFTW rpm tach not working
Hi this is a 97 sc400 converted to 2jzgte v160 swap. The speedo works on the dash but the tach doesnt. It has an aem v2 and rpm reads on there fine, but not to dash gauge.
Any help or ideas how to make the factory tech work?
Thank you

^^ This. For early SC's you have to solder a 14ga jumper wire onto the "R180" resistor area in order to electrically bypass that resistor thus allowing the tach circuit to read the lower voltage signal that GTE ECU's or aftermarket compatible GTE ECU's put out.
For later model SC's (1996+ I think or maybe it's 1997+) the resistor is instead labeled "R173" or "R73"... if I am recalling correctly.
That will cure your no-tach issue with your GTE swap.
Aside, if your tach or speedometer motors are getting worn out to the point of being stuck occasionally you can temporarily cure that with a *light* slap for the dash just over the instrument cluster. But the real fix is to either replace those gauges or have Tanin Auto repair them so that they no longer stick.
