Passenger door on 97 sc300 will barely open before it hit front quarter panel.Anyone know how i can get door fully opened without hitting font quarter panel and screwing the door up further. Thanks for your advice.

Assuming there was no front-end body damage/accident, normally that would be a sign of a worn/sagging door hinge. Not sure what you would need to do in order to open the door so you can change the hinge, but maybe fender removal?

^^ This. If body damage is not a factor then it may be a worn door hinge.

New ones are still available or you can usually get rebuilt ones from CL user “mecheng” who is based in Australia and rebuilds Z30 Soarer and SC door hinges.

He has a writeup on the PlanetSoarer website.

Well ladies and gents i bought 2 plastic spatulas a buck a piece,(yes the things you flip burgers and eggs with)and it worked perfectly to open the door without screwing them up further. So i recommend doing this trick if you run into the same problem i am having.I cannot take credit for the spatulas, that was Daryl idea,Daryl from Australia. Thanks again D.Oh fellas i assume some of you may have done this already but after getting my door opened i changed out my o2 sensor the down stream one.The one where you have to remove or pull back the carpet on the passenger side to get to remove it.Anyway i bought that harness extension from the bay and now i will never have to remove the carpet to change that sensor. All i have to do is unplug the old and plug in the new and i'm done.If you are wondering my cat and o2 bong is alot further back because of some headers i bought yrs ago.

Spatulas? Did you say.... SPATULAS?

Also that downstream O2 sensor on 92-95 Cali Emission SC300's and 96-00 SC300's is indeed a pain to get to. I made an extension for that for that myself but I didn't realize an aftermarket pre-made example was on ebay. Thanks for the tip!

That's funny.Make sure you get the plastic ones. And yes they do have an aftermarket pre-made extension.
