Heck no, i just started it, you must be thinking of someone else. Really, i just went outside and tried banging the tranny tunnel out, but i'm not even sure which parts need to be done. All i did was the entrance part for the bell housing, but all i can do is guesstimate without the tranny in place. Any assistance is appreciated.

i'd like to know who started this beating the trans tunnel
stuff, if you want to hammer something - try your head
i dropped the motor & trans together to see how it would
all play out. there is NO info on this mod. the best advice i could
give is go to mkiv.com & carefully look @ the pictures in the
supra auto to manual swap. the top of the tunnel looks similar
to yours? (before you killed it w/ the hammer) you can cover
the hole as you wish, supra steel plate, sheet metal & pop-rivits,
cardboard & rtv or as i did straw & road tar
(your choice depending on skill level)
john
damn your running the same stuff i am + cams (im jellous)
need to find the time to down load all the crazy pics i've got
(would be helpfull to most new comers)
best -o- luck w/ her

(keeps my hands warm on those cool nights)
i'm not kidding - havnt covered it yet

When i put the 6 speed trans up for mesuring, the bell housing was too large for the entrance to the tranny tunnel. Thats the only part that had some clearance issues. The rest of the tunnel i am not sure about, i'll find out monday.

bellhousing area? your car is a 5 speed right?
the only mod i had to do was on top of the trans
tunnel where the old shifter was & the new shifter
is. 1 big long retangle up to the front of the consule.
this allows the 6 speed shifter brackets & other
lumps & bumps of the trans to enter the "passinger
compartment." you cant space the trans crossmember
down to get away from the floor. the driveline angles
will change & create problems. my friend has my camera
otherwise i'd just post pictures of my car. on monday
what i've said may make more sense & hopefully save
you some time as to whats going on.
btw i'm not a butch & infact very **** about how things
are done & how they look when finished.

Yeah, if you can take some pics i would be very grateful. I know the peice you are talking about where the shifter assembly comes through the tranny tunnel, i had thought that might be a tight fit but i hadn't gotten to that yet. Thanks!

So your saying i just need to bang out the rear upper section? I tried installing the engine yesterday and it looked like i needed to open up quite a few other roof sections to make it fit. The engine wouldnt side far enough back to install the engine mounts. I banged out even more and we're gonna try it again tonight. When i'm done, i'm definitly going to take a picture to solve this mystery once and for all.

and yeah, better keep it quiet, cos, you know - it's a big secret who has what transmission in their car. Myself, I keep my entire shifter area covered in black plastic, including my arm, so noone can see what I have in there.
Seriously though, what is wrong with telling people how you did something?
