The cheapest way built for what specific application? Some parts like the pedals don't change for this but things differ a lot depending on what transmission will be needed for the engine configuration.

The least cost effective way of manual swapping an SC300 is to go the V160/161 route. The absolute cheapest probably still is with a W58 but that's really not what you want if you're planning on boost. For any boost applications it comes down to what pros and cons any flavor of R154 present to you (though they are made for the car and engine basically) vs pros and cons of the few years of CD009 6-speed will give you for your application. An R154 or CD009 are pretty good choices today for boost applications. Up from there and definitely not in the cost effective camp is a Tremec Magnum with the Grannas Racing swap kit.

The driveshafts are different for all of these transmissions (just the front half of the driveshaft for an R154).

The OEM pedal manual parts and OEM manual brake pedal are your first order of business. Or you can use Xcessive Manufacturing's manual pedal conversion kit (plus an OEM manual brake pedal) with its own mounting box and its own master cylinder and reservoir design (the engine bay wall needs *just* a bit of banging out to accommodate the Xcessive brake master with the hydraulic line attached).

I don't know what ballpark price to attach to any of these route options but I don't think any of them are cheap unless you find great deals on all of the parts.

The cheapest R154 is probably still an MKIII version which will need some parts to convert for use with a 1JZ/2JZ. Not sure what they run for now but if you can still find one that hasn't been abused and just needs a good rebuild and upgrade with billet parts and heavy duty bearings it's still a pretty good deal for a long lasting, boost friendly transmission that is pretty much made for the car.

For those MKIII R154's everything to update them for use in an SC300 very cleanly is available right now. Xcessive even sells a replica Soarer style extension housing for them as well as a bolt-in transmission crossmember that uses the MKIII style factory mount.

The clutch is what may be the biggest shock if you want to avoid the annoyances of pucks and the driveline shock and excessive pedal feel they have. A good twin disc clutch for an R154 can start around $1500 from RHDJapan. Most of the time twin disc clutches are around $2k or more.

However... if all you're going to do for now is bolt an R154 to a stock non-turbo 2JZ-GE you can run a cheap OEM Supra MKIII Turbo clutch kit ($200 or so) all day long. That's a very affordable and reliable solution for a manual swap car that has not yet been converted to turbo. Perfectly reliable for a non-turbo 2JZ-GE... just nowhere near adequate for a GTE or NA-T engine. For several years that was what I did.
