Default 75 shot. Good Deal?

I met a guy at the track last night selling a used Zex nitrous kit. 10lb bottle. Wide Open throttle switch. 75hp wet shot. He wants $325. It looks in pretty good condition. Had it hooked up on a Mustang. Would you take it or wait and get a new one?

Mods, if this is in the wrong forum, please move. Thanks

Chris

I would wait and buy a decent kit... The zex is basically the bottom dog on the market.

The Converter will probably make close to as much difference in your ET as the nitrous will Also, are you running on the 19" wheels in your sig? If so I would be more interested in spending $500-$700 on a nice set of wheels/drag radials before I put nitrous on the car. Maximize the power you already have before you go adding more

How bad were your track times, because with a converter and not 19" wheels I would imagine you could drop a second or more off your times. What were your 60 ft times?

Ethan is right on the ball here.. The TC will probably make you a burnout bandit and might reduce those 60' times, which is the most critical part of a good 1/4 mile run. Put NOS on also, and bye bye 1'st gear, for getting any kind of traction.. I have a couple Toyota Supra wheels, with some Drag Radials for track day, and believe me, it will help more than you could believe for getting up and running. You can sometimes get a set of Supra wheels, for $300 or less, WITH tires, and then just pop some DR's on the rear wheels, and have some real fun.

It was a bad night for everyone as a matter of fact. Almost everyone was about .5 to .6 off their normal pace. Even the guy with the Viper and the 200hp shot was off. I ran about 16.2. I had my wife riding with me. She was bored watching. Just had a complete tune up. I have a set of Kuhmo Victoracers on my stock rims that hook up pretty well. My ET dropped .1 every run. I was an idiot and reset the ECU right before the races. I should have done it the day before and run it hard for a day. I think the ECU reset was my downfall. The 95 degree weather here doesn't help much either.

I raced 1 time with the 19's just cause I was too lazy to change them out. Bought the Kuhmos the next day.

ECT on. O/D off. Torque brake to 1800rpm. R/T's sucked but I was sitting at the light thinking about what the hell was wrong with the car and kicking myself for resetting the ECU that close to track time. Duh.

BTW, I'll get some wider rims and DR when I start doing some more upgrade.

Can't really blame yourself, thats just how fast the SC400 is...It is made to be a luxo cruiser, not meant to be on the track...

I ran around the same times, 16.3 and 16.5...

True but under the same conditions 3 weeks ago I was running 15.7 to 15.8. And that was before the tune up. Guess I'm just frustrated.

uh id throw a nitrous kit on there really fast! When i had my 400, i had a 100 shot on it and cut a 13.9@102. ....from a 15.8@89 all motor. I would definately suggest an NX kit. Nitrous Express has done great for me, and is prolly gonna help spool the turbo on my SC300 NA-T.

you should be a mid 13 on a 100 shot, the car took it just fine.

If you do buy spray before you buy drag radials and converter the NX is the kit to get.
