Default Manual Transmission

Hi, we are trying to place a manual transmission from a 1995 SC300 to a 1992 SC300 and trying to find out if these transmissions are compatible. Does anyone know? Thanks!

They are compatible and will bolt up yes, but the 95 will have a different looking shifter on it called a remote shifter.
You might have to open up the hole in the tunnel a little bit for the different shifter as it sits a little more rearward and goes up straight, instead of sitting forward and being tilted back.
It should be pretty minor and the 95 has a better shift feel to it, good luck!

If the 95 transmission looks different than the 92 transmission then you have a tripod transmission. It will not fit in the original trans tunnel without the 95+ tripod trans tunnel extension. Some people have made it work by cutting the opening to the trans tunnel wider but then you run into issues like noise, heat, engine oil smells and exhaust gases coming into the cabin when the car is running. the 95+ trans tunnel allows you to cut the hole bigger then weld the tunnel on top so that all the original rubber gaskets and weatherseals can seal the hole like a 95+ car

^^ All of the above. If you have a Tripod style W58 then you'll have to modify/cut your 92-94 style W58 trans tunnel top or your automatic trans tunnel for the tripod style shifter. And you'll want dust and heat gaskets & boots for that for the reasons 1997Soarer explains.

Or... you can do the extra work of de-welding the 92-94 W58 trans tunnel top and swap in a new Supra MKIV manual W58/V160 trans tunnel top and use all the factory dust boots and gaskets. This is the exact same tunnel top design that 95-97 SC300 M/T vehicles and 94-00 Soarer M/T vehicles have. It is more work to do that but it would be the most "factory" solution to fit in any W58/R154/V160 "Tripod" transmission. I also believe the Grannas T56's also fit with the tripod style manual tunnel.
