sc400 Mass Airflow Sensor trouble
I just recently purchased this 1993 sc400 and I love it but it has a problem with the MAF sensor. It feels fine to drive but the computer shows the sensor is not working. The dealership replaced the sensor and reset the computer before I got it but it still doesn't work. I have seen in another forum that said usually when this happens the problem is the oxygen sensor, is this true? I'm not sure if this is relevant but the fuel in the car is definitely very old (I can tell by the smell). Please let me know if you have had this problem or if you know anything. I'm not sure what to buy or if I even need to buy anything at all. Thank you!

If you can pull some codes from the computer and let us know what you find that will help greatly!

the dealer that I got it from received a code from the car telling them the MAF isn't working. After they replaced it they said the light didn't go off. I was told recently that I'd have to drive the car a couple hundred miles in order for the light to go off. Is this true?

A 1993 LS400 MAF assembly (now discontinued) was over $1,000 new from Lexus.
I believe your engine uses the same MAF assembly...
As for driving the car a couple hundred miles.... B.S.
After changing the LS400 MAF, the light went out immediately after disconnecting the negative battery cable for 30.seconds.
A defective used sensor is hardly a solution and could be the problem.
