Cool ls 400 oil pump on a sc400?

HI ,I'm new too the Lexus scene and recently bought a 1992 Lexus sc400 which is in surprisingly good condition but it has issues with the oil pump. I have searched high and low for a cheap oem part and or at least something that will work rather then doing a rebuild kit since I'm not going to keep it stock for long. In my search I found the sc400 oil pump was discontinued from manufacturing and the last ones are going on eBay for wayyy too much. I know the ls and SC share the same engine but I'm not entirely certain it will just bolt on so I wanna get some thoughts and opinions. other than that I recently changed the solenoids in the automatic transmission witch I'm debating swapping for a manual but I'm not set on a specific set up yet debating the 370z trans but if I do swap it will be when i install the big turbo kit. all around it is the cleanest sc I've seen in terms of rust cant find any on the undercarriage. its sitting on brand new stock suspension with flow one wheels with 16s I think in the front and 18s in the rear wrapped in beautiful continental gt sport plus tires. The clear coat on the paint is pealing sadly but I'm just gonna sand and wrap it thinking of a glossy red. Also I know this is kind of a ridiculous idea but I kind of wanna put a supra wing on it looking to see if anyone knows abt the fitment. I know how people call it the v8 supra so its kind of fitting right?lol .

What oil pump issues? That is about the last part to fail if that goes bad the rest of the engine is probably toast. Anyway, 15100-50020 fits 1990-1994 LS and SC. Beware that parts cross reference listings are not always perfect so always verify fitment via your VIN.

That part number shows on several online parts sites for less than $200. I would call one of the dealers to see if it is NLA or still available.

its not building oil pressure i was told it may be my pressure switch but thats harder to rech then the pump itself i already have the part just gotta install it and if that doesnt work i wanna make sure i dont make a $200 mistake that leads to something worse

Slightly above zero chance the oil pump is bad.

since the sc400 oil pump is lobe driven instead of spline driven they actually have been known to spin the lobes at high revs and crack the pump bearing

Disclaimer: I own a SC300 with the JZ, not the V8. So I do not know if everything I gathered is 100% factual.
Looking at the part number 15100-50020 for the Oil pump assembly, It did list the LS400 model year 1989-1993. I did find a few sources that hinted that Oil pump assembly from the later model years does work on all the different 1UZ's. XAT Racing list their modified high flow UZ oil pump for all model years covering the 1UZ, 2UZ and 3UZ. If this is the case, I also did come across an article on lextreme that mention instead of paying close to $400 for Oil Pump number: 15100-50050, with a small grinding modification on the pan or simply changing out a Bolt for an Allen Head Bolt. You can use Oil Pump number: 15100-0F010 which seems identical with the exception of a bolt used instead of a recessed lock pin. It's still an OEM Toyota Oil pump assembly but cost around $60-85. It was used on the 2UZ Toyota Sequoia and Tundra. OP of the article did mention a few members using this Oil Pump on their 90-97 LS400 and SC400. Again, I am not sure since I own a JZ but hope this info helps.

Yeah, that's something I'd be leery of. What are your plans for the car? You stated you plan to modify, but didn't specify what you want to do. Are you going to rebuild the 2JZ? Put in a 1JZ?

im going with a rebuild of the 1uz fe gonna do a few head upgrades and considering forged pistons and but since it has those chunky rods big turbo should be easy ish gonna take the build slow i just installed new solenoids in the factory tramission so im gonna run that til i hit 350 hp witch shouldnt be too hard just gonna go with new headers a borg s475 and try and run a boost controller with the stock ecu till i can afford to run new injectors with a standalone then go full crazy and try and push the engine with a cd009 swap
