Default Serpentine Belt Tensioner adjustment

Hi,
I am replacing the serpentine belt on my 1994 SC300 A/T. I have the proper belt but it fits too loose. The tensioner is working ok. Is there a way to adjust the pivot?

Thanks,

Nick

There is no adjustment but the tensioners can weaken over time as they are spring loaded. If you look on the side of the tensioner there should be some notch marks and like an arrow or line on the other side (its been a while going off memory).
If the arrow/line thing is outside of the other notch marks with the belt on, then the tensioner has gone bad and should be replaced. If the line is within the notches and the belt is still loose you might have something else going on like the wrong belt.

Thanks for the info. Indeed, the mark was way off the A/B marks. I have a new belt from Lexus and it is apt 2 inches shorter than the one I removed and the tensioner cold not keep it tight. I also had issues with noises and the AC not working. So I bought a new tensioner will arrive tomorrow and will install. Thanks for your reply.
