Default Steering wheel play (95 SC400)

Good Afternoon... I am writing to see in anyone is able to identify a solution to my problem. My 1995 Lexus SC400 has a lot of movement in the steering wheel almost as if it's not connected properly. Took it to an alignment shop and they said it was a suspension component but I believe that there is something wrong with the way the steering wheel is mounted or maybe something loosened up in the interior. Has anyone experienced a similar issue that can guide me to a solution?

Never heard of it myself. You've got two basic options: 1) pull the steering wheel and see if it isn't seated properly, or 2) pull the lower dash apart so you can view the column and see if that's where the movement is. You might also be able to get a helper watching for movement where the column comes through the firewall, but it would probably be a very small amount to discern that far down the line.

Are you sure it is not steering rack bushings that have gone bad? That is the most common cause of what you are describing.
