Default Power door lock working but won't unlock door

So my passenger side power door lock is working (I pulled the door apart to get a look) but it won't actually move the lock. Every time I move the door lock switch it makes the correct noise but doesn't actually do anything. Basically, it's getting power and it's working as intended electrically but mechanically something isn't working. I've searched but couldn't really find any answers. The door opens, closes and locks and unlocks just fine so I was just curious if this might be an easy fix (like a broken clip or something) or if the only fix is to replace the door lock actuator assembly (which I'm in no hurry to do since everything else works).

Thanks guys!

The door lock actuator is probably worn out & too weak to unlock the door.

Hey Doc,

Thanks! So the power part is integrated into the actuator assembly then? I haven't seen an exploded view anywhere so I wasn't sure how the whole thing goes together. If that's the case guess I'll just be putting it back together and not worrying about the power part...

^^ What Supra Dr said. It sounds like early signs of your door lock actuator going out. Yes, the "power" part that physically moves the manual door lock switches on the side of the door's interior is a fully integrated unit on each side of the car. There is also a door lock ECU but you don't need to worry about that in this case.

For better exploded parts diagrams try looking up the SC300 or SC400 on Partsouq.

As for replacing a failing door lock actuator, here are the part numbers. Try ordering them from MyLParts or Amayama:

—69040-24080 — Lock Assy LH SC300/400 (Actuator assy)
—69030-24070 — Lock Assy RH SC300/400 (Actuator assy)

Also, include these little clips in your order. They are cheap and essential since they can get brittle and break after 20+ years and if they do the actuaror rod they are attached to can go out of alignment and become damaged if your window glass goes down on top of a free floating actuator rod. Never re-use these clips. Just replace them with new ones:

—69293-12040 — SC300/400 Lock Actuator Clip LH Side
—69293-12030 — SC300/400 Lock Actuator Clip RH Side

Kahn,

Thanks a bunch for all of the info! I was able to locate to part in a parts diagram so yeah bummer…I was hoping this would be fixable without replacing the whole assembly. Since I don’t need the power locks for now I’ll just keep it as is and replace when/if needed. I’ll be sure to come back here when I do though to make sure I get all of the necessary parts.

Cheers!
