Default 98 SC400 Transmission Sluggish Initially.

I have a 98 SC400 with 218k and whenever I start it after it's been allowed to cool down my initial forward momentum in drive is slow and after a few seconds it will pick up. I've done a fluid check and have had some inconsistent readings and I've topped it off a tiny bit. Seemed to alleviate the issue, but I'm not sure if that was placebo. I've read around and seen a mixture of responses but I am also kind of dense and am unsure of how to proceed. I've stopped to fuel up and the problem doesn't persist after which leads me to believe it's maybe a temperature related issue. No codes. If there is a thread already please link and I apologize for the waste of time in that scenario. Appreciate y'all.
