Not to mention blocking the EGR doesn't do a whole lot to the emmissions. I passed a rolling dyno emmissions test with flying colors with it blocked off---big cams and all. I was actually in the middle range on this. The biggest factor in emmissions is keeping your a/f ratio centered on 14.7:1 and having a catalytic converter that isn't worn out---the rest is cake providing your community doesn't do a visual under hood inspection.

HEHEHEHEHE
Thats a Crown Engine...From Japan...
All you need is a Plenum Chamber from here or Japan from this engine and all is done...They do not have the hole at the rear for the EGR...

Care to share w/ the rest of us how you did it? Did you use 2 plates or one? Home made or store bought? Just curious as I'm doing the same ove Christams break.

Old thread, new post...

I am getting a set of EGR Block Kit from Neil Griffiths from xxx.rushimports.com.au or whatever his site is. I am blocking the EGR to reduce exhaust lost to the intake. I will gain much more exhaust gas to my turbo for spooling.

I also like the EGR deleted look. Easier to get to the injectors if i want to change them. The less the better.

Exhaust Gas Recirculation uses the exhaust gas to actually cool down the cylinders and burn off excess hydrocarbons. When you are talking in thousands of degrees of temperature, and tailpipe emissons (NOx, O2 , CO, CO2, HC) which are basically some of the same chemicals found in fire extinguishers, cooling down the cylinder by pumping some emissions into it will cool it a couple hundred degrees and can make a pretty big difference in emissions by burning off excess hydrocarbons and it lowers NOx emissions.

On a turbocharged setup I could see the need to block off the EGR. For a stock N/A car.. especially states under the watchful eye of emissions laws, I would suggest leaving it alone. I doubt you will see an increase in power.

Oh and as far as you getting much more exhaust gas to your turbo for spooling, I think most EGR systems are located further along in the exhaust than the turbocharger would be...

Only reason I kinda want to get rid of my EGR system is when I did a pressure test, I found that the EGR Vacuum Modulator was leaking air.
It's a pretty small leak, but I don't want any leaks whatsoever.

When removing EGR on a turboed car, it's a good idea to closely monitor EGTs because they can easily reach unacceptable temperatures.

California sucks my left nut.
