Default 1999 SC 400 Manual Swap

I am about to buy a Sc 400 with a bad tranny before I get the auto rebuilt is there any way I can swap it for under 1500, that’s my budget

I'm interested in this thread because I'm considering swapping my 99. Even if it costs a little more than the 1500. Seems like the exhaust being in the way of the slave cylinder is a common problem from videos I have watched

The short answer is that it will be cheaper to replace the A650E 5-speed automatic transmission in that SC400 VVT-i with a “new” remanufactured A650E than it will be to manual swap it.

*Can* you manual swap it? Yes, certainly… but $1,500 is not going to be enough for a manual swap.

If you’re interested in manual swapping a 1998-2000 SC400 VVT-i then study the steps in this recent build thread by DrAtomica which covers the process to manual swap a 98-00 400 in excellent detail:
