92 SC400 window regulator gear issue and fix
My driver window went down one day and never was able to get rolled up. Motor just running in the door. I thought I broke a cable or it came off the guides. Took the door panel of and found the regulator in good shape. But I was able to raise the window manually, and the gears were rolling, all intact. What gives? Took the gold round plate off the work gear drive and found the gear was turning but the drive was not. The rubber isolator between the 2 drive plates was deteriorated to the point that the 2 plates were no longer attached to the rubber isolator ring. I took the exterior snap ring off and removed the top plate, cleaned all the parts and epoxied the plate back onto what was left of the rubber ring and filled the damaged section with 8mm nuts and more epoxy to make both plates and what was left of the isolator 1 unit again. Put it all back together and it works great. Wonder what the passenger side looks like?
