Default Rear abs/wheel speed sensor (SC300/400)

I'm doing a rear wheel bearing on my 99 sc400 and broke the sensor.

I have briefly searched but I am seeing $250

Is that right?

Do all 300/400 share sensors if I look for a used one?

Different SC300/400 model year ranges use slightly different ABS sensors.

By production dates there are 1991-1993, 1993-1996 and beyond that I never verified the part numbers for 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000. Differences between each revised ABS sensor for different batches of years may not be all that much but I've never compared them all to see.

Unfortunately most of these have been discontinued by Toyota/Lexus now both in the U.S. and in Japan. I am not sure what aftermarket alternatives are available at current time but the alternative to that is to find a used one in good condition.

Here are the part numbers and model year ranges that I looked up so far. You can at least verify and/or rule out what you don't need by using these part numbers by going into a Toyota EPC from a dealer (MyLParts for example) or into an EPC on the Partsouq website and look up your model year to see what specific ABS/speed sensor part numbers correspond to your model year.

89543-24010 -- SENSOR, SPEED 89411 -- JZZ31,UZZ30 FRONT LH -- 04.1991 - 03.1993 — DISCONTINUED (aftermarket alternative: NTK AB1647 — ALSO DISCONTINUED)
89542-24010 -- SENSOR, SPEED FRONT RH 04.1991 - 03.1993 (superseded by 89542-14030, ALSO DISCONTINUED)
89543-14020 -- SENSOR, SPEED 89411 JZZ31,UZZ30 FRONT LH -- 03.1993 - 08.1996 — DISCONTINUED
89542-14020 -- SENSOR, SPEED 89411 JZZ31,UZZ30 FRONT RH -- 03.1993 - 08.1996 — DISCONTINUED
89546-24010 -- SENSOR, SPEED 89411 JZZ31,UZZ30 REAR LH -- 04.1991 - 04.1993 — DISCONTINUED
89545-24010 -- SENSOR, SPEED 89411 JZZ31,UZZ30 REAR RH -- 04.1991 - 04.1993 — DISCONTINUED
89546-30020 -- SENSOR, SPEED 89411 JZZ31,UZZ30 REAR LH -- 04.1993 - 08.1996 — DISCONTINUED
89545-30020 -- SENSOR, SPEED 89411 JZZ31,UZZ30 REAR RH -- 04.1993 - 08.1996 — DISCONTINUED

Hope this helps get you closer to what you will need to find used.

Found this on ebay out of a 97 300 and looks absolutely identical however they list the part number ending in 30 not the 20 you referenced. Maybe a typo from them?

It will most likely work in your 1999 SC400. Physically they should all mount the same way since the SC/Soarer bodies remained basically the same from 1991-2000. Also the sensor hardware itself is probably shared with a number of other Toyota/Lexus vehicles of the era... but just put into different wire harness assembly lengths with different brackets. I wouldn't recommend taking one of these apart but technically it should be possible to find the same sensor from another Toyota/Lexus that used it and graft it in to a damaged or bad SC300/400/Soarer ABS sensor assembly (though I have never attempted this or looked into it to say for certain).

Thanks for the help. I was able to confirm yesterday through a local part store that the part # for aftermarket sensors from 97-00 300 and 400 are the same.

I have the oem ebay one coming for $50

Lexus wanted 230 for the bearing but a found a timken for $60
