What's that cost on the 2jz-gte swap?

United States Domestic Market. TT Supras were sold in California. California has strictest emissions. As long as its same year or newer USDM motor with all smog equipment and legit vin's it will pass visual. The ref will even make a nice barcode sticker for you so that you won't have to put up with the hastle of places not smogging your car.

Something I'm wondering... with this swap, most of the prices I'm seeing are with labor included. If the job is done yourself, it would be a lot cheaper right? Pretty much all you'd be paying for are parts, which it could be possible to break even after you sell parts off of the clip you don't need, and selling the old engine and tranny, although I realize I most likely won't break even, will still end up being in the hole... this is something I'm planning on doing, and I plan on doing most of the work myself, except for a few things... so, all said, we'd be talking a lot less without labor right?

Pull the VIN from the 2JZ-GE and stick it onto the JDM GTE.

Sorry to say but the people who check for this can't tell the difference. Both the engines looks exactly the same except for the turbos.

Thanks Deceptik, but I meant with the engines themselves. In other words, do they have different pistons or something? And how would these differences affect the emissions? Does anybody know??

EDIT: Just realized you weren't responding to me... sorry 'bout that.

Here you go ladies ():

http://chicagolexusclub.org/temp/Chr...ap%20list.html

This is a list I've put together. This engine swap list includes "6 speed transmission swap" and "automatic to manual conversion". Also, some things listed are not required for the swap which is why the price tag is higher than normal.

Anyway, this list is not updated as of Dec 1, but when I get home I will upload the new document.

Chris

Thanks Direct, pretty good general idea of prices there. I know I can discount $2k off the price right from the start lol

Honestly I haven't started it. Still waiting for my clip.

My car is auto right now. I didn't list the shifter assembly because I hope I will get it with the clip.

LOL. Are you talking about the price of the labor? I have a deal with a local shop. They will help me do swap it and will give me major labor discount.

Yeah, I plan on doing most of the work myself. I fix airplanes for a living so working on cars is no big deal lol. And, it really seems to me that the biggest hassle with the tt swap is the wiring... heh, well, my aircraft job has me fixing wiring and electronics systems, so that won't be much trouble for me. That's cool you've got a deal with a shop there... I move around too much to get in good with any shop owners

*edit* Chris, what part of IL? I'm originally from there, southern, near Carbondale
