actually, no its not....

if you're talking about faster, then you're talking about sheer acceleration rates... manual cars run higher trap speeds in the 1/4 mile, hence they are faster...
they are NOT quicker however, when the auto is setup correctly... or if the manual is driven extremely well (which is pretty much impossible at higher hp levels)
