Default Mystery part in cylinder head!

Long time listener, first time caller.
I picked up an is250 with (presumably) a blown head gasket.
Symptoms: Pink residue all over the engine bay. Bone dry radiator. Cranks, no start. Misfire on cyl #4.
I have no garage, so i decided to tear it down iso swapping the engine.
I got the valve cover off this morning and saw this little nugget laying inside the rear corner of the cylinder head.
I would LOVE to find out where this little sucker came from. Ideas?

Nevermind. It's a post that aligns the valve cover to the cylinder head.

A pin? But it looks like half a pin. I just realized, optical illusion it is cylindrical.
