Default True manual mode/TC off? 6AT AWD

Did a quick search and didn’t find anything on this so I apologize if it’s been discussed before, but wondering if anyone has been able to mod the ecu/tcu for true manual mode and getting traction control properly off, with the 6AT AWD powertrain. Apparently it can be done with the D3 tuner for the 8-speed but haven’t found anything on the 6. Maybe there’s another way like through tech stream?

Thanks cheers

You could try doing the pedal dance.

Not sure what you mean about "true manual". If you put the gear selector in "M", it'll be very much manual, except for auto-upshifting at redline. You can fully disable ESC by holding the TC off button for a few seconds while the car is stopped, and it will allow you to rev up to the limiter without any auto-upshifting.

Yeah I’m aware I can put it in manual mode but it will auto-upshift which is not true manual mode and is what I’m trying to avoid. I want to be able to bang off the rev limiter. I can do it in my 2009 Camry.

I’ve tried holding the TC off button to fully disable but it automatically re-enables it after about 60km/h or so (can’t remember exact speed)

I’d like to be able to do this without pedal dance

You really don't need to do the pedal dance if all you want is to be able to hit the rev limiter.

Just come to a complete stop, and hold the TC Off button until you see a message pop up saying it is off. I think you need to hold the button about 3 seconds.

Hope this helps.

I actually tuned my IS350 AWD 6AT with d3 tune and I get true manual mode when I remove traction control completely. I was suprised because on the website, they said, its only for 8 speed tranmissions

To remove traction completely, need to be on Park and hold traction button for 3-5 sec. Message will pop up and some light will appear

You can do this even when the car is stock. It will allow for banging off the rev limiter.

Not really. You have to have Sport S+ Mode. Sport S will auto-upshift.

It has to be tuned, that's the only way.

No. Turn TC fully-off* and enter manual mode. Now, the car will allow you to bang off the rev limiter. Alternatively, you could do the pedal dance**.

* Come to a complete stop and press the TC Off button for about three seconds, or until the message stating VSC is disabled is shown in the gauge cluster.

oh I see, I was confused by "true manual mode". I thought he was asking about something else. Thanks
