Performance Forced induction, intakes, exhausts, torque converters, transmissions, etc.

Please help!! Can our mufflers be adjusted? My shop said no..hangs to low

Question Please help!! Can our mufflers be adjusted? My shop said no..hangs to low

the right muffler hangs a little lower than the left. just put new exhaust on now, and i need the left to hang a little lower so it matches...can this be done? my local shop said no.

I am pretty sure they can. I think a few people here had their borlas adjusted a bit.

Borla's a possibly a bad example since they use their own hanging mechanism completely separate from the Lexus ones.

koreanpers - sometimes you can adjust the height of a muffler by using a zip tie on the rubber donuts to tighten them up.

hey guys, thanks for your ideas. I went to another muffler shop, and he fixed it. He heated up the bend in the one muffler side and adjusted it that way

Yeah, your first mechanic didn't know what he was doing. When I bought my car, the old rubber hangers were worn out and both of the mufflers hung real low (as if the rubber has lost its elasticity). I went to my favorite shop and had them replace all new rubber hangers and now the mufflers sit directly under the rear bumpers real close and that's the only way I like them. It also helps to have them sit so high because my coilovers are set real low and i'd be scraping everywhere with low-hanging mufflers.
