GS300 GS400 GS430 Fuel Filter-YES it has one
Many have asked where the GS fuel filter was located and the answer has been-it does not have one. The pic listed shows the GS fuel filter. It is supposed to be a lifetime unit, but...............you know how that goes. Cost is from 19.00-43.00 depending on your relationship with your dealer. The sock is from 6.00-12.00.
It is located in the fuel tank under the reat seat and dissasembly of the fuel pump unit is required. Total labor is around 20 minutes if your familiar with tools. If your going to attempt this yourself, keep in mind that you will need all new o-rings(sold individually) and new sock clamp down. They are not included.
Just an FYI

Did you take any pics fora DIY? Can you list all needed parts, e.g. how many o-rings? I have the fuel filter but did not know that there are more needed parts. I'd like to have them all before starting. Thanks.

WOW, THANKS FOR THE INFO
Hello Again,
I will use this information to change my fuel filter. Since I change the filter on my other cars, I always wondered where this one was. That clears up a big question in my mind. The Lexus rationale seems to be to let the drivers go until the fuel pump goes out, and then sock you for a big repair bill. I am like you...I like preventative maintenance. A good sign that the filter is getting clogged is the whine comiong from the fuel pump./ IF you can hear your fuel pump from a distance off, it is trying to deliver gas through a dirty sock and filter, and it is a matter of time before it gives out. Also, the pump is lubricated by the fuel, so less fuel and the pump starts to disintegrate internally. Naturally it goes without saying that you should use GOOD fuel, and not bargain-basement-save-a-buck-a-tank gas. In California, that equates to all the cherap brand stations, including ARCO. That has to be the worst gas around, and will cause many problems.
If you don't do a DIY for everyone else, I'll try ot do one in about a week when I get my filter assembly from Carson Toyota..(it is nice to liveso close to these guys.
Thanks Again,

don't all cars have an in-tank fuel filter on the pump? i thought that was the norm... but it's the second fuel filter that is usually in the engine bay that i'm wondering about. almost all the cars i've owned had one in the engine bay that required scheduled replacement... but my gs is the first time for me not to have one...?

Hey guys by looking at the thread with more pictures it seems like they are trying to do some mods as well. If intention is to just replace the fuel filter and sleeve, will ordering part no. 23217-46090 get both the unit and the sleeve?
Pearlpower mentioned before there are some o rings that need to be replaced as well. Can you give specifics quanitty size part no. etc.
