torsen 3.76 LSD
i got the rmm torsen type 3.76 lsd about a month ago.
so far i've noticed much quicker acceleration from start and also in second gear if i have it at about 3k rpm and floor it, it snaps my head back into the head rest mass fun. on the freeway at 70mph the rpm is around 3000 and flooring it there produces faster acceleration than before.
as bitkahuna reported going around a 90 degree turn is a blast as both rear wheels dig in and rocket you out of there
it has taken some time to learn how to drive it in the rain. the gearing will break those rear tires loose if you floor it. moderation is key.
i've driven on both the 17inch and the 16 inch wheels and i think the 16 inch is even faster in a straight line than the 17's
on snow and ice i put on my 16inch blizzack ws-50 snow and ice tires and then put it in snow mode. car seems to have incredible traction and i think the lsd helps keep the car going in slick conditions. very impressive.
i was concerned about the lsd on ice, i heard something about it going blind and not knowing which wheel to transfer the power to but i never experienced any problems
i have hit the rev limiter when using 2nd gear in e-shift but quickly learned how to avoid that.
all said i think this is a big improvement on the car and really feel the car should have come stock with it.

Thanks for the update-this is definitely a mod I'm interested in. I want to improve the performance of my car a bit and it sounds like everybody likes the gears and LSD who has them!
Question-did you just call up RMM and order it new from them? How much was the installation?
My only concern was that on long trips the RPM would be a bit high cruising down the road. Doesn't seem too bad though...

yes i ordered from their website . took about a week. it is also possible to find used ones sometimes on classified forum but i've heard of people getting non lsd differentials and i did not want to risk having problems so i bit the bullet and paid the new price. $1450. install was about $200. from what i've learned at 70 mph the rpm is about 300-400 rpm higher. and i have the stock 17" chrome with 245/45/17 michelin pilpt sport a/s. i read somewhere that this gear ratio gives 15% torque increase and believe me this is very noticeable. i have no regrets about this mod and am looking forward to spring and summer as winter here in seattle is pretty wet and the roads don't completely dry out very often. if you give it to much throttle on wet streets you will probably fish tail. so on wet streets i have to be cautious with the gas. i've had a few days where the roads were dry and it was a real blast. i've turned off the vsc and drifted around some 90 degree turns smoking both tires, great fun but one old lady who was coming the other direction flipped me off. drifting the turns is a real blast. i think on dry roads and as i learn its handling characteristics my love for the 3.76 lsd will continue to grow. there is a definite learning curve but it is becoming second natue rapidly. most fun mod so far for me! torque converter is in the future. ivan

Thanks for the update man, good write up, I have no choice but to get this mod, as the 20" wheels change the gearing so much. With the large wheels, it would probably just take me to stock performance with much better response and traction (which is good for me).
Keep us updated man! Good job

3dog, so happy you've grown to really like your new diff. I agree with everything you say. Faster, loads of fun, but be careful in the rain.
You're gonna love the TC!!!!

I would like to know 3 speeds:
75
85
95 (I drive kinda fast on the highway!)

Thanks for the feedback! I have done gear swaps and various types of LSDs and locking differentials in my years off-roading. I know that a good limited slip or torque biasing diff makes a world of "diff"erence (sorry, couldn't resist ). I had 4.56 gears in both ends of my modified Explorer with a locking (not limited slip) rear diff and a LSD in the front. With the right tires, it would go just about anywhere! Top speed was about 85-90 mph though...

i have my 16" wheels on now. and i think but not positive that the numbers are a little lower with them. tomorrow might be tough to get to 85 or 95 mph because of rush hour traffic. i'll see what i can do, i love going fast too

well with the 16" wheels i got up to 75 for like 15 seconds in the rush hour downpour that was good for an even 3000 rpm. just changed back to my 245/45/17 wheels last night. i'll get all those numbers for you sat. ivan

I believe I checked this recently and was at 3000rpms at 80 (with the 3.76 Torsen diff).
