Traction from a standstill is very hard to master.

I use a G-Tech to measure and practice my 0 to 60 times.

When I launched perfect (one time only) I did a best 0 -60 of 5.2 sec. When I screw up a little I do a 5.8 - 5.9. I can do 5.4 consistently after I warm up and get the hang of it.

It comes down to the launching rpm you leave at and how hard/ fast you press on the gas. Also the street surface has to be grippy. Some surfaces I've tested on, I can never do better than a 5.9.

You need to have the tires spin for a second and then grab, too much gas and you spin and spin, too little and you bog (well I call it bog for lack of a better term) .

Here's a little treat. That's me at the start of this video doing a spin and spin:

Go to this link:

Then select: LGW DVD Trailer

Looks cool, sounds cool, but it's actually a slower 0 - 60 time then a spin and grab.

I ran a 14.9 best run my first time out at the track. The track sucked though, even the modded vettes, etc were complaining of slow times.
My 2nd time around at a better track, I ran a 14.6 at my best in 90 degree plus heat. My only go fast mods were the SRT intake and ECU and a better flowing Borla exhaust. I had 18" wheels which were not lightweight I guess.
My trap speed was 96-98mph.
I was the only Lex there surrounded by Supras and DSMs and they were impressed for a 3800lbs car (I weigh 230lbs so over 4,000lbs total).

I kept in in D for the best times as E-shift, I just did not shift correctly (needed more time to practice).

So for times under 14.
Lighter wheels.
TC
Nice clean car
take out spare and other heavy items
SRT intake and ECU
Lexus racing jockey

The best advice are road slicks. This will help your times dramatically as I am sure you are aware.

Oh and lightweight upgraded brakes will decrease weight as well.
