Bit, can you reveal what shop you took it to for the install?
Was it MM?
I have witnessed it, and I know this is something I want to do. I will probably need it as I have some fat 275/30/19s going on after my paint in a few weeks

Hey Rom, I was thinking about this the other day, since Red GS is running 18s and RMM is running 19s, do you think the 20s will give you a slight mph edge due to the inherent taller gearing that's associated with the +4 wheel upgrade? I thought maybe with 20s you could get in the 140 range?

A stock GS 430 is electronically limited to 149mph. Assuming the GS400 is the same limit, a GS with 20's will do roughly 5mph over that because of the taller tires. Your speedo will show 149mph , but the "actual" speed would be atleast 5mph more at that speed.
The limiter is controlling the maximum RPM of the engine not the speed in MPH, so with my 3.76 gears I'm doing around 500 rpm more than a standard GS at freeway speeds. This limits my max speed to 135mph, before the "rev" limiter kicks in.
As far as redgs4 and my car, both our cars have tire diameters very close to a stock GS, so even with 18in or 19in rims, it does not necessarily matter since the overall tire diameters are close to stock, I have 30 series x 19 and he has 35 series x 18.
A GS with similar performance mods as mine except for the 3.76 gearing will pass me at 135mph, but I will accelerate faster and be pulling away from 0 to 135mph. So it would take a while to catch and pass me.
I don't plan on running sustained speeds beyond 100mph let alone over 135, so I'd rather be faster from 0 to 60 and the quarter mile than on the autobahn.

I think we concluded before the rpms were about 300 higher at freeway speeds, not 500.
I posted in this thread my rpms at 80 are 3000, although my speedometer 80 isn't in fact 80 because of my fat 19 setup (it's more like 84).

honestly I dont drive it that fast often, I had it up to 140 on 17s once at like 3am on I95, other than that I may burst up to 115 or so (I know it sounds unsafe, but i am not reckless, if your cruising at 80-85, a good stab to pass or whatever will have you staring at 115 like its nothing!) [/QUOTE
i was just wondering because i've seen you post a couple of times wondering if the 3.76 would drop the top speed. i thought you did this alot.
i've got 17's and before i got my 3.76 i got my car up to 125mph, on a 6 lane wide (on my side) interstate hiway. it was very exhilarating
to say the least. that is the fastest i've ever gone.
the only reason i didn't try 130mph was i was coming up on some traffic and i don't think it is good form to pass someone going 65 or 70 at that speed. ( i try to pick my spots, when no other cars are around and road conditions are suitable ) it was amazing how slow 100mph felt after going that fast, and 70 really felt slow. i've gone 115mph several times and of course the car will get to 100mph in the blink of an eye. what i like is when passing or merging it gives you the ability to pick a spot and get there.
of course there is a hugh fear of getting caught .
if i could find a road straight enough for long enough and a smooth surface (very important) and without traffic or law enforcement then i will probably take it up as far as it will go. but with the 3.76 , from what i understand i will have to settle for 135mph. however my wife still has the stock differential in her car, so once i find a place and try it in my car, i guess if i still feel like it, i can try 140 - 145mph in hers.
i have to tell you guys that the 3.76 is so much quicker in that first stab of the throttle that it just adds another layer of fun to an already fun car. my wife was just shocked at how much quicker it is off the line than her car.
and this is something you can have fun with all day long every day and wherever you go. and you don't need to find a special isolated spot to enjoy this feature. i also think the limited -slip helps out in ice and snow but that is another subject.
thanks for listening to my ramblings![Driving Skid](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/drivingskid.gif)

actually, a bit correctly, it's definitely more than 5mph. my 20s are about 6% out of spec. i know pretty much for sure that when it is showing 80mph, i am actually running at 85mph already. so if that's the case, then when it's showing 140mph, i am actually running at close to 150mph already.
