Exhaust: Differnce between brands, flowmaster, magnaflow, apexi, l-tuned, borla, etc
#16
The best way (and obviously the hardest way) to decide on what exhaust to get (aside from the looks ofcourse which is the easy part), is to listen to the exhaust.
Obviously this is not always possible as it requires you to be in close proximity to someone else with the exhaust.
Based on that it is very difficult to quantify what is loud, quiet, powerful sounding and quiet simply because it is very subjective and biased based on your personal preferences.
My L-tuned mufflers will be up for sale in about 2 - 3 weeks and I will include the three L-tuned stickers as well (the stickers have nothing to do with the exhaust - they are completely separate items) for an all inclusive fire-sale price.

I have L-tuned exhaust and like them very much. From what I have been told, L-tuned and Borlas are about the same in loudness. However, I have been told that L-tuned provides a quieter cabin. I think L-tuned has better fit in the hanger design. I know there's no drone in my L-tuned.

I have the Borlas and have no droning. I think they sound perfect. Nice at start up, quiet while cruising, mean at WOT. I bought a set of L-Tuned during the group buy and was going to put them on but really did not like the look of the tip compared to my Borla's, so I sold them. The one problem I have with my Borla's is they don't fit exactly right within the factory cut outs. I need to have them adjusted one of these days.

So overall, most people say L-tuned is quietter in the cabin, and L-tuned fits perfectly, while for Borla it's a little bit louder in the cabin and needs to be have something changed (don't know what exactly ? ) in order for it to fit?

I'm going to chime in because I may be one of very few that have the RMM exhaust on this forum. I love the sound and look of the exhaust. It is quiet at idle but sounds amazing at WOT. There is very little drone when cruising but it sounds good when cruising. For me the exhaust is not too loud. Just keep in mind that all these things are subjective so what might seem loud to one person may not be to another person. Another thing that I like about the RMM is that like I said not that many people have them. I think MagnaFlow makes the RMM exhaust. Also like someone else stated, when you decide which exhaust you like, check out the classifieds for a used one. I bought mine from another member (Lexizm) for $350 (about $600+ new).
