Default Best intake?

Hey guys, I just bought a 2002 IS, and I was wondering what the best intake would be. I just want something to give me a nice kick, and I do not plan on any other mods. I previously had a Tiburon, and the AEM CAI was the best for that particular model, and I was wondering if the short ram intake for the IS300 was just as good. Also, will this mod effect my CEL? Thanks in advance for the responses.

You would probably want to go with the SRT w/ecu. The AEM has had great reviews as well. You may wanna look into this thread from .net:

Other than that...if you want quiet/stealth w/gains...definitely go with the PLP Silent Flow Intake.

just be aware that the SRT is not only bolt-on with the ecu...you'll have to do some slight soldering & the price for a new one is on the higher end of the spectrum. so definitely look into used ones, if money is a factor...

if you want a straight bolt-on intake, you have quite a few options...you have to decide if you want an open element intake (K&N, AEM, Injen, etc.) or one that uses the stock airbox (PLP, JoeZ pipe & filter of your choice). it's really up to you on what you prefer...

happy shopping & installing!

That's very true you have to do some slight soldering.
I only had it on the car for six month, complete w/instruction.

Default wiring

Hey, does it matter if you crimp the wires together as opposed to soldering them. If all you need is the connection, I don't see what the dif is? On .net they said that solder is necessary. BTW what numbers did the SRT pull for you guys? Thanks.

Because the voltage sensativity is so critical when monitoring A/F and RPM and TPS you need to solder the wires. They are very small and don't lend themselves well to crimps or vampire clamps. You can try it but it doesn't take long to solder the lines in and you won't have any problems with it later.

Good luck.

Ahh, cdawg, this may be why my throttle reads at 83% with the pedal mashed. Thanks.

Default injen

Hey, i just got a used Injen for $150. Great intake cause it's least bashed. People say the A***s throw the CEL, the RMM's aren't the greatest, and PLP's don't take in nearly as much air (that's what i think). Just what i've heard though. Throw in yall's ideas about intakes though. Thanks.
