Hey guys, been reading about intakes, some say get SRT and some say get PLP/JoeZ. I already have an S-AFC made by Apex'i so i don't want the SRT. Lexus mechanic told me just to put the stock intake back in to get rid of this BOMZ racing one i have cause the stock airflow redirector thing won't fit (the first ram-air type piece) and the lack of heatshield paneling that would make a complete box does not come with it.

So, was wondering what to do. Drop stock airbox in and get a performance filter? Get PLP since it comes with filter?

Someone made the analogy that having the metal tube on the stock intake such as the PLP/JoeZ is like breathing through your nose and the air being slowed by your nostril hairs and junk in there--thus the ripples and design of the completely stock tube. But having the PLP/JoeZ would be like rolling up two paper tubes and sticking them in your nostrils and breathing more freely.

Also, is it true that any performance filter is better than stock paper filter? Keep in mind that after all of these intake mods i will be tuning it with the AFC. Guys, any help would be appreciated as I am trying to figure out this whole intake thing. Thankyou.

whats wrong with the bomz intake because i have it and everything fits fine, sounds good, and isnt giving me any problems.

Yeah, nothing wrong with it, other than maybe low quality, but works well. Just want some second opinions, that's all.

One thing you might want to look into to help your intake, is the exhaust header heat shield from www.injen.com helps stop the exhaust from heating up yout intake pipe.

First off, the intake has helped my performance i believe, but should have dyno'd to make sure.

Flipside, does the heatshield really do anything, or are the gains trivial? If i did get one, should i install it before i have my S-afc tuned? Thanks.

Heatshield actually helps keep alot of radiant heat away from the intake. It just deflects it downward. Not much of a gain...but more eyecandy in essence.

Hey guys, i found my solution by getting crzeazn's used Injen for $150. Thanks though for the input. Now i'll just need to be tuning it with my AFC II. The Injen's quality is obvious compared to the crappy ebay intakes. Will post pics.
