I think part of it is also the fact that for a GS300 owner there is always a GS400/430 to aspire to. Let's say there were an IS400/430 in production, I'm willing to bet that after a certain period of ownership alot of IS300 owners would just go ahead and trade up to the bigger motor rather than doing a turbo setup.

Besides that, seems to me that GS owners for the most part purchase their rides more for the luxury and reliability aspects as opposed to all out sportiness.....just my opinion, but who knows?

I agree with ebruce2 on that one. GS is not only cost more, but expect more luxury and exotic than sporty and fast. IS and GS got the same engine and very similar tranny set up. I personally did engine swap, but then my employee did a turbo kit on his 99 GS300. If you do it RIGHT, then it's worth of boosting. But remember, force induction on NA engine (stock 2jz ge engine) is not THE best way in boost business. Expect the unexpected !!! Don't mean to scary some of you or anything !! That's my opinion, that's all!!

this debate has gone one many times, with our stock tranny only able 2 hold 350rwhp, if that , it makes things very tricky, at 1st i wanted 2 go turbo than did a lot of homework and had many conversations with turbo and s/c owners and just figured its either a nice s/c 4 me with about 300rwhp or so or a complete supra swap like blue98 said....cost does come into affect between the 2 but it depends also if u r going 4 go all performance or stay some where in the middle, i'm leaning towards staying in the middle of show appeal and enough power 2 have a ball driveing my car....reliability is a big thing with me...but we have a bunch of turbo gs3 here in florida they just aren't members, we had a couple show up at the last meet and they r suppose 2 come 2 2morrows meet aswell, i'll yake picks if they come...

For me it all comes down to the money not comming in at the moment.
If I have some good cash flow again my preferance would be a full engine swap like Jay.

Hitech, where is the writup about your car???
Haven't heard much from you since it was at SRT.

I also think that GS3 owners buy their cars with the knowledge that they are not going to be speed demons. There are the exceptions of us CL freaks that buy a 300 because they know the FI potential of it, but thats a different story. I think that if the AVERAGE GS3 owner was all wrapped up into speed, they would have gotten a 400.

Also, there are not many people that are willing to take the FI plunge on such an expensive car, especially one that is their daily driver!!

I believe that most people will first go for the most powerful factory version, and if this is not enough, then try to upgrade that one.

This will be normally the easiest and most costefficient way.

In the LHD world, this means that people first will go for a GS400/430 and if that is not enough, then go for FI.

In the RHD world, people will just trade-in their GS300 N/A for an Aristo TT
