Default rear differential

i was underneath my car the other day and i found some oil on the rear differeantial. it looks like its leaking where the rear diff meet the shaft that it connects to. is there a gasket there? can it be easily replaced? thanks

There's an oil seal inside. Have to drop the dif out and open her up to get to it.

Labor will be around 4hr, You will need to drop the rear diff to reseal the rear diff cover.

Great time to get an LSD installed since you will paying for a labor anyways.

Actually, if it is the rear axle seal, you don't need to remove the differential. You will need to drop the carrier and remove the axle hub then change the oil seal. You would also be better off changing the O ring on that peice as well. I will try to post an exploded diagram of what I am talking about ASAP.

If it is in the front where the drive shaft connects to the diff carrier, then you will need to remove the differential.

thanks for the input. it does look where the front shaft connects to the back. is this a common thing and how often am i suppose to change it out?

why are you using a supra diff?

It took 1.5 I think. I have a Supra limited slip diff with higher ring gear (provides lower final ratio) which means better traction and more power to the ground (but lower top speed).

i found a supra rear diff and all the brake calipers..but how do i know if its from a turbo or non turbo..or does it even matter?

The NA Supra calipers look similar to yours on the GS. The TT calipers are much larger.

The differential you want is one from a AUTOMATIC TT Supra. Keep in mind that NOT all automatic TT supras had LSD installed. Most do, but some did not.
