K&n Fipk
I heard from a few people that when you put an intake on a GS400 it wont run right unless it has a chip or a fuel controler...
I wanted to get the K&N (cause its alot cheaper then the SRT) But will i need a fuel controler or will the car run fine?

I love my K&N FIPK II. That intake coupled with my Greddy exaust is awesome. I haven't dynoed it but there's a definite increase in power. Do a search, someone dynoed the intake. It put up some good numbers.

Agree with the above. I have the FIPK II and Tanabe exhaust. And a Dyno that show about 8-10 HP between the FIPK II and stock. Not the best dyno comparo, mind you, but the conclusions were in line with the butt-o-meter. And I also have an SAFC II waiting for install.

FWIW- the K&N website shows a dyno graph with about a 10 HP gain I believe. The additional noise is a mixed bag- sometimes a bit louder than I want, but sounds awesome (combined with exhaust) under WOT!

Supposedly there is a *slight* loss of torque at lower rpms, but to me it is not really noticeable. But then I have some other mods too so it may just not be an issue...
Here is a link to the dyno chart:

I dont see why not. That dyno result can be possible for the K&N FIPK with the L-Tuned exhaust. You just gotta tune it.
The srt intake is nothing special... just because of the Pretuned piggyback that you get with it. But if you upgrade your header and exhaust + etc, you'll have to dump out the srt piggy back and replace it with a safc to better tune it anyways.
So lets say you upgrade to the K&N FIPK w/ exhaust and tune it with the SAFC... you can get the same results or even better as the srt w/ the piggy back.

eRR.. He never said anything about a SAFC / SAFCII ... if thats the case then yes 26WHP is possible.
However WITHOUT the SAFC or any other piggy back system.. 26WHP from intake and exhaust in the GS
is not possible.

yes i know that he never said anything about it but if you're comparing it with the SRT w/piggy back.. then yea thats why i threw in the safc and saying that it's possible.

I know I didn't say anything about the SAFC II, but it could have been possible that it was tuned. Remember I said "don't quote me on this", meaning I don't remember all the details.
