Borla vs L-tuned exhaust.. need help picking one

thinking about upgrading exhaust

im stuck between borla and l-tuned
some say l-tuned is quiet and borla is nice

not sure which to get

i dont want something outrageously loud either

I had a TRD exhaust on my wife's 2000 v6 camry and it was horrible
way too loud for my liking and sounded cheap

Cool 1 Vote for L-Tuned

Erick - Since U have some much invested in your stereo ( as do I ), I've heard the L-Tuned side by side with my Borlas & the L's are a little quieter. I love my Borlas & aren't planning to change but I had the RMM's before the Borlas & those are a little bit noisier than the Borlas. Besides, it's only louder when U stand on it!! Just my .02 if U're concerned with decibels.

L-tuned is just a little bit quieter than Borla S/S (not the carbon fiber one!). IMO, Borla fits and looks better than L-tuned. Another 0.02.

is there a noticeable difference between stock exhaust and l-tuned?
if so...

i think i will go with L-tuned
since i got an awesome price from steve gantz

Borla costs around $400 while L-tuned costs $700+ if money is the factor.

No idea where you got the $700 from

so 800 for the pair

go to www.summitracing.com and search for BOR-11733. I got mine there. $400 for both exhausts.

I have the borla S/S, and anything quieter is not worth changing, IMO.
The only thing I recommend is to put fuel tubing on both the muffler bracket and on the one which attaches to the car, then buy worm-type clamps and secure the mufflers sideways and up (like the stock ones were). My tips are perfectly centered and wtih the same clearance on sides and top (I had to bend the thin metal backward to allow the mufflers to bounce up without touching).
They look awesome now, but wnen I initially put them, the stock pipes were bent out, and overcame the cheap rubber hanger, touching the paint on the outside of the openings (the stock mufflers were forced in place by sturdy rubber hangers), and one muffler was hanging more than the other.

YES. L-Tuned is NOT even close to 'quiet' compared to stock. I have it, and am glad I have it, but if it were any louder I think I would have taken it out, despite the looks which I really like. The stock GS exhaust looks tiny/puny in comparison.

Obviously I'm in the minority since most people here have Borlas, which I'm sure is a fine exhaust. But reading some Borla owners 'tricks' to mount them properly would put me off for one. Plus, I guess I just prefer to go with Toyota/Lexus approved parts wherever possible.

But I can't stress enough - when you hear L-Tuned, you will NOT mistake it for the stock exhaust.
